“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

Video #2: Ideal Day Exercise
Now that you have your Purpose Statement, we’re going to move from awareness of the idea and formula of purpose into imagination and creativity - to creating a hypothetical life of purpose. Imagination is crucial to the purpose process. If you don’t start creating and experimenting before you know for certain what your purpose is, you’ll remain stuck in analysis and disconnected from the possibilities of a lived purpose. There is an element of trial and error involved, so today try on purpose. Today, create a hypothetic ideal day and move one step closer to actually living your purpose!
Please complete your Morning Purpose Ritual and re-write your Purpose Statement. Today’s exercise is to expand the possibility of what a life of purpose could look like and also to create an emotional attachment to tangible hour-by-hour experiences of your perfect day. You’ll get a better idea of what a fully aligned life of purpose looks and feels like in every key area of your life (career, health, relationships, home, play, spirituality, self-expression, community) and increase your confidence that a fully engaged purposeful life is possible.
Before you begin, create an ideal blank canvas for your life’s purpose. Imagine that you no longer have any “have-tos,” your bills are paid, your bank account is fatter than ever, all your relationships are in good standing, and nobody needs anything from you. Let’s begin.
Perfect Day Exercise
All you need is your journal and a pen.
Please choose now whether this day is a work day or a play day. Whether or not you choose to make your perfect day economically productive is entirely up to you. If purposeful work is most important to you, consider imagining what a short, fun, powerful, abundant, and productive work day looks like. If self-expression, nature, community and/or spirituality are most important to you, consider imagining your ideal play day. Ask yourself, “What kind of ideal day best serves my purpose?”
Please make four columns with these headings:
Begin with the first block of time that feels right. For example, if sleeping is part of your ideal day, you may begin your day later than someone for whom an early start is ideal. Once you’re finished filling in the columns for that hour of the day, draw a line and continue moving down the page until you have each hour imagined and accounted for, including who you are with and how it feels.
Keep an element of realism. You’ll need time for self-care, eating, and fitness. These activities can be fun, creative, and/or spiritual (e.g. hike, yoga, sports, making a meal, eating out).
Activities need not take the whole hour and feel free to stretch an activity across several hours.
Congratulations! This is a taste of the life you came here to create. This is the treasure map, your “X” marks the spot. In the next couple of weeks, you’ll gain the skills to actually start living this ideal life. Over the course of the coming weeks and months, you will make achievable, practical shifts from your current typical day to this perfect day.
