“My faith demands - this is not optional - my faith demands that
I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can,
for as long as I can, with whatever I have to try to make a difference.”
Former U.S. President, Jimmy Carter (1924 - )

Nature Speaks Exercise
To create this space, you are going to spend 20 to 40 minutes in Nature, alone and in silence. Ideally, you will be off-trail, in complete isolation, in wilderness, at least one-half mile from the nearest road or human structure. If you live in an urban setting, find a quiet park, beach or field at dusk or sunrise (not at night or during the day, but right at sunrise or dusk), lay down with your back on the Earth and your eyes looking up to the sky.
You will likely still hear human and machine noises, but please keep everything else that is man-made out of view. Dress warmly, bring layers, turn your cell phone on “airplane mode” so you can still see the time and set an alarm for when to rise. Feel free to stay there past your alarm as well, if called to do so.
Prior to setting out to complete the exercise, please pick one of these 3 questions that most calls to you as an intention:
Find a flat, dry space and for the entirety of the exercise, be still, with your back on the Earth and your eyes above. [If the ground is wet lay down a tarp, a shower curtain or two big garbage bags.] As soon as the exercise begins, drop the intention from your awareness and just observe. Just reflect quietly, sinking into the Earth and observing your surroundings, smells, sensations, noises, as well as the quality of your consciousness. Upon returning to civilization, write between 200 and 400 words describing your experience in your journal. Was there anything revealed regarding your intention?
Vision Board Preparation
A Vision Board is a collage of images that express various pieces of your Ideal Day Exercise (Day 2). Now you can authentically and holistically create your purpose-aligned vision board. You’ll need to do some preparation.
Magazines cost about $5 retail so first try to use your network of friends and family to find old magazines, so as to avoid a hefty bill at the pharmacy. Many stores and salons will donate old magazines to you if you ask. Choose magazines that reflect your interests. If you’re passionate about Nature, “Road & Track” is not likely going to have much compelling imagery. General interest, news, and science magazines are good sources as they tend to have more universal stories and imagery, and reflect universal desires in their advertising.
